Moving to Adelaide - Where to buy snakes?

Hi everyone

I'm moving to Adelaide in 2 weeks and need some recommendations on where the best places/breeders are to buy pythons, colubrids and monitors.

Cheers

Southern x reptiles have awsome animals, Melissa Shine ('Simple' is her member name on here) breed some lovely snakes, 'Jungleland', also a member on here for reduced pattern stuff, and the reptile shop at Christies Beach - these are people I have bought off with no problems

I can recommend Reptile City at Christies Beach, bought seven pythons from them in the past six months and they have been great and really helpful

I guess it depends where you are moving to in Adelaide as i think there are more but i know of the closest one to me iykwim

Another one is Southern cross reptiles but neither of these are not ones you can just pop to

And there is also Northside pets but no idea what they are like as i have just heard the ad

Yay for a new Adelaidean! As well as the breeders and the shops in Adelaide, you can also buy from interstate breeders and sellers and have them sent here, so find the herps you like and see if someone is willing to freight them here!

Yep... I definitely agree with him.

Are private breeders much cheaper to buy from than shops, or is there not much difference?

Thanks.... I liiiiiike Adelaide! I'm going to be living somewhere near Flinders uni. How's getting import permits? Are the authorities good to deal with? Do the sellers in other states usually organise the export permits?

If I would be looking for snake in Adelaide, I would definitely contact Southern Cross reptiles.
They keep animals in absolutely perfect condition. I was always impressed with purchased snakes from them.
Actually when I need snake my self, I do buy from southern cross reptiles and pay extra transport cost to Sydney. Nothing is more important to me than reputation of supplier to receive top quality , healthy animal.

Look at our patron and sponsor link to they website in my signature.

Getting a licence and import permits in Adelaide is great. It's so easy. To get your licence, you just need to fill in the application form and send your money in. I got mine within about a week.

Link to website for more information - http://www.parks.sa.gov.au/fauna_per...tion/index.htm

Import permits - you need to fill in an application form each time you want to import animals, and if you provide a fax number, they generally get back to you within about 1 working day.

I recently got my basic permit.
All i did was go in with the paperwork i had downloaded from the website payed my fees, and they gave me my permit there and then.

I go my permit so i could import a female beardie in, which was easy too, phone them and they will send you the form, then you just get the deatils from the seller, and send it off/drop it in. Although it takes 48hours for an import permit to be processed. (they have to check its all legit)
Then they mail, or fax it back to you.

If you have any licencing q's phone them at the fauna permit unit. They are most helpfull with any enquiry no matter how small.
