My Darwin Bit Herself

Hey All,
Just after a little bit of advice. Has anyone had a python bite themselves at all? I picked up my yearling female darwin and she's a little bit toey at times. She gave me a lil nip two days ago but tonight i was holding her and she bit herself half way down her body.i thought she was trying to strike me but got the first thing her head touched whihc was herself. It sounded awful and i was wondering if i should be cleaning the area where she bit herself etc. Just worried she might have done some damage to herself or her gums or if it could get infected. The area where they are kept is cleaned thorughly once a week and any mess is immediately removed.

Simone.

RE: My Darwin Bit Herself

I have seen a couple of my bitting them selves during eating or trying to bite me, it's never hurt them or caused any infection to their mouth or body.

I love all my snakes, but I would never call them a smart animal.

My young Darwin has done that to himself, at the time he was having a nip or 2 and I think he just got himself. No damage and hasn't done it again, may have learnt his lesson. hahaha

RE: My Darwin Bit Herself

Well i picked her up again this morning, can't see where she bit herself but when she did it last night it sounded like she broke the skin but i can't see anything this morning. I hope she doesn't to it again cos it freaked me out.
Thanks All,

Simone.
