| | Seller | Join Date: May-06 Location: Brizzy Age/Gender: 30 | | | My first chicken flight, thanks to minka. info by request
I'd like to say a huge thank you to Minka for not only being so patient with me while i attempted my first frozen chicken freight but also for contributing to a great cause.
Minka purchased 200 chicks from me and using our old friends at AAE and i have now discovered that based on 200 deep-frozen day old chicks, in a polly box and insulated with newspaper, wieghs just 0ver 11kg
On this info and alot of questions to the very patient man at the counter, i have discovered the following info on the freighting cost of our test box of 200 chicks, as request in the many PM's i have recieved since Pkings thread about his woma.
MELBOURNE---$65
SYDNEY----------$45
MACKAY----------$65
DARWIN----------$125
W.A.----------------$137
A.C.T--------------$65
ALICE--------------$125
CAIRNS-----------$90
TOWNSVILLE----$65
EMERALD---------$65
Adding this info to the price of the chicks, {50c per head} [plus a small handling fee to cover fuel and packing] in many (most)cases the chicks still end up at around or less than $1 per head, and with freight only increasing maginally with weight increase, it would be even cheeper in bulk, having never done anything like this before i was stunned at how easy it was, and am now thrilled i have the oppotunity to not only help others vary their snakes diet, but also donate proceeds to helping rehabilitating native injured animals.
thank you all so much for your support for this very worthy cause, and to Minka who was so patient with my stumbling around a new concept heheeh, please let me know how they fared at that end, and ofcourse how bubbies liked their dinner lol. Peace, love and goblin snot.
Sil.

Due to tthe fact that they are deep frozen Packed in polly box with newspaper and sealed, it takes more than 2 days to even think about defrosting. I sent them NQ Dropped them at AAE at 2pm and they were recieved at the other end at 7,15 pm.
They do an overnight service too, and the best thing is they store all perishables in a chiller, so no chance of defrosting at all

What sized rat/mouse would a day old chick compare to?
Any idea whether freight to Merimbula Airport would be available?
I've had Turtles come from Brisbane to Merimbula
Cheers
Daryl

I am happy to reserch all areas by request, and will fix up the freight list with the new destinations.
I will also take a photo tomorrow for size reference as this is a common question.
Thanks for the support guys.
