Within minutes of death bacterial decomposition starts and accelerates rapidly as the hours go on.
Have you ever wondered why if you kill a rat and leave it outside, within an hour the flies have found it and are laying eggs.
Reason , they can smell the start of decomposition, and yes I know that snakes will eat road kill ect and yes I also know people who have been defrosting that way for years without a problem. But after seeing a list of bacteria involved in even the early decomposition process it's not a risk I would even consider.................. |

I do not however defrost on the bench myself. |

Good work mate, and thanks for posting it and the pics Your efforts arent entirely unappreciated. |

Errm, the only person that has argued and bitched in this thread is you.
Yes, with people like you around, no wonder people keep to themselves.

So well done on the reuse part... You can continually use the one ice cream container - that's great... But what about making it even or efficient?
Turning it into a much more efficient heater by trapping the heat inside - you could achieve this by further insulating your ice cream container. Suggestions include polystyrene, woolie blankies (haha) or anything that will keep the heat in.
As heat rises, make sure the hole is recovered again as well, so even less of the heat escapes...
It's a great idea - well done! |

Being new at this i just assumed the way to defrost was to leave it out until soft (forgive the ignorance) This is a great thread for people new at this. Yes you can research, but they dont include things like this in the 'How to' books
Well done on a great idea and thanks for sharing

Personally, I just let them warm up with hot water and the snakes eat them. I am very conscious to not let them get too hot! |
