need some advice

i'm going to have to ring the epa today or tomorrow but just wanted to know what i'm in for. i bought my first reptile (mac) last october through a private breeder. me not knowing any different at the time paid for it and got his permit number but no movement advice form. i have just sold her with a movement advice so they are going to know i have sold a snake but they have no record of me buying it.
what i want to know is will i be fined or get in trouble even though it was a genuine mistake as i didn't know that was needed?

i would assume providing you can prove you purchased the snake from a licenced keeper you should be right, if you have the guys licence number and you provide epa with it you may find if he informed them about the sale and they could have it all on record either for his file, yours or both.

Are your other reptiles registered with EPA?

Maybe it would be good to keep your mouth shut, BUT, i would hate to see the person who bought your maccie run into trouble, or even be accused that the snake is wild caught or something if there is no record of it. Unlikely but something to consider.

Contact them and let them know.
I made a big mistake when i was in NSW (quite a few years ago and a long story) had i not informed them i would have copped a hefty fine, but i rang, they requested the story in writing and i copped a very stern warning. You made an honest mistake! so be honest and let them know.

call them, it's not your fault, if you have the sellers details it's their responsibility to supply it, when your movement advice comes in they will see you don't have that snake, and the fact that you supplied a M.A. when you sold it will tell them you knew about them,

Everyone makes mistakes, my advice would be to tell them, If they discover the anomaly first and think you are pulling a fast one they will nail you. If you bring it to their attention they will be a lot more forgiving. Good lesson in life here too, honesty is the best policy.
