RE: New Babys

Thanks Puppy, ill get some better pics of the enclosure, i bought it "raw" and added heating and stained it etc myself, much cheaper. I had a small pair of blueys in there, and a much larger enclosure waiting for the beardies, but they were smaller than i thought so they went in here, blueys are temporarily in the other because they are slighly bigger and i dint trust em, lol.

OMG...you are talented. I can't even drill holes right (first time I tried I cracked the plastic so I chucked the drill and cut the plastic with scissors *gawd that hurts* and stuck a screen on instead). I can knit a scarf for my lizards though....

Show me pics!! Show me pics!!

RE: New Babys

Here ya go puppy, hardest bit was sewing flyscreen over the heat cage.

P.s Flouro is uv, but im going to swap it back for normal globe because i dont trust the beardies not to harm themselves on it(so i want the cover on it), plus they will be outside for uv regularly along with turtles and blueies anyway.

Thanks Agamadae, they should have heaps of room for a while, later they will move to the 5ftx5ftx2.5 penthouse, LOl!
Ive discovered they love chasing moths, a few got in and they went wild, really jumping!

RE: New Babys

Aren't your dragons lucky! Those are beautiful....

I have 2 white melamine cages, and I find that they can get quite stinky even if I clean it out everyday... due to lack of air exchange? I find that the wooden ones are much better, but that may just be my preference....or am doing something wrong >___<. I hate the equation: (heat lamps + veggies) x smell of stuffy air + stinky poo = really smelly enclosure.

If you stain my enclosures I'll sew 100 screens on your lamp covers for you

There barbata mate. Not real problem with smelliness, lizzy salads can get whiffy if left uneaten too long but i clean, check , clean and check again regularly for poo etc. Could be your substrate? Im using euclyptus mulch from bunnings, (seen in pics) $7 for 40kg.(Thanks Razza, great idea) The lizzies love it for burrowing thru etc, it smells fresh, i spot clean twice a day, (or as needed) and ill be changing the lot every sunday. looks alot more natural than newspaper thats for sure.
The cage itself is water proofed, i sealed it with several layers of water based varnish, over a week and a half.

p.s Puppy, you can buy stain and varnish in one, you just lightly hand sand back the timbre, wipe away dust and paint it on, easy!, just be sure to use long full strokes then leave to dry completly before the next coat, otherwise you get horrible brush marks, lol
