new beardies not eating

I got some 7 month old beardies on sat. they've been eating vegetables and roaches previously. They're in a 4x2x2 tank with a ceramic heater, a uvb bulb and an ordinary fluro (getting a blacklight tomorrow). i dont have fluon yet (hoping it arrives soon) so i cant leave roaches in there to roam the tank (and escape). I did hand feed one of them on sunday evening and it ate a number of roaches, but since then i cant get either interested in roaches or crickets.

I ahve left crickets in for a few horus (and then removed them) and they dont get eaten. I left a tray of chopped up buk choy and a little tomato and they didnt touch it.

these are my first lizards so i'm not sure what to expect. they mostly just lie around 9which i assume is normal). Should I be worried about them not eating? I've also been handling them and letting them sit on me

Maybe they may just need a little time to settle in.

When i got my baby a few months back it took about a week for him to settle down.

put the roaches in the fridge, put them in and leave them, my little guys eat better when left alone

Hi matey,

I seriously know how you feel...

Being they've just arrived they will need time to settle - a few things though:
* size of enclosure they were in previously?
* how many are in the current enclosure - compared to where they came from?
* feeding history - are they good eaters, any records of their feeding habits, had you seen them being fed?
* how often did they get fed?
* how's their condition?

It may well be they'd just fed the day you picked them up (if so, how many did each have to eat).
They're in a new environment - if they've just eaten and their condition is good, I'd give them a week or so to settle...Try again in a week - set your alarm if needs be - little beggers should be hungry by then!!!

Pls keep us posted - love to know how they're doing.

*enclosure size is the same, although they weren't previously in a fish tank.
*just the two of them in current enclosure, they used to be with another of their siblings plus an eastern beardie (mine are centrals)
*I havent seen them being fed, and they werent fed of the day of the pickup, but the breeder said they were good feeders (they were free as he needed to make room so he wasnt scaming me by giving me sick lizards). he also fed theme every second day
* their condition is excellent. they're plump (not fat), the base of their tail is think and they react to things in their enviro.

I guess i just need to give em some time, I know this from keeping other animals but i guess being my firts lizard it's a new experience so i'm extra worried!
