New enclosures :)

Hey people after seeing alot of members share their ideas and projects, I thought I'll share some progress on my new tanks. 2 6x2x2 tanks stacked on one another, they will be used to house BHPs. Below is the plan:

I used this article as a rough guide to constructing the backing for the tanks:
http://treemonitors.com/diyfauxrock.html
Instead of using concrete I just used poly filler, works as well and used small amounts of concrete to get a sandy effect on some areas saves alot on the weight .

I wasnt able to have the camera ready on the earlier days of work but took some pictures this afternoon of the top tanks progress .

Heres after i finished apply the poly filler over the wire mesh, and drying in the sun.

After drying, the base coat was applied, I used dark brown.

Then a coat of red.

Then sandstone for the highlights.

Heres the bottom tank which i finished earlier in the week. sorry about the bike in the foreground

Anyways hope everyone enjoys the pictures and I will post more pictures of the up coming progress.

That is looking great! I am in the process of making a new tank for my Bredli, and was trying to decide how to make my rockwall background. I was thinking chicken wire, then paper mache, but that would be too weak, and then plaster of paris, but that would be too heavy. My b/f suggested fiberglass, but I dont want to spend that much haha.

So you have used poly filler? Is it quite hard and strong?? my wall is going to be fairly big, so I need to make sure it can suppurt the weight of a full grown bredli and still stay up!

yeah its heaps strong, just mix a bit of bondcrete in with the plaster mix, and then when dryed and colored, seal it with a few coats of undiluted bondcrete. The ones in the pictures are hard as rock

Just wondering how big the snakes are that are going into them? Maybe you could have built a hide under the ledge?

We should have get togethers so we can share ideas on materials etc and the processes involved in creating such a masterpiece. Not that I could share much. Finished product should be
brilliant.
