New Gecko Pics

Hi Guys & Gals,

Just thought I'd share some pics of my newly arrived Geckos (thanks DB!)

Cheers,
Andrew

The first is a female Tesselated Gecko (Diplodactylus tesselatus)
The second is a female Box Pattern Gecko (Diplodactylus steindachneri)

Gorgeous critters! Congrats!

Steindachneri certainly have great character for their size. When I kept them the male would occasionally start a threat display, just by me opening the lid. Watch out though, they are FAST!

Depends on the species Tatelina.. Some will automate their tails - others can't.. And still others will produce a sticky liquid from tail glands to ward off predators..

Actually some geckos can change colour, I think even the asian house geckos which are taking over Aus can make their skin slightly darker or lighter. They aren't anywhere near as skilled as chameleons though. Not sure what the native species are like, but there seem to be plenty of gecko keepers on the forums, I'm sure someone will chime in.
