There has been much speculation recently about a new reptile magazine hitting the streets. We've even heard a rumour or two about it ourselves from a few different sources. Well to put the rumours to rest, we are very excited to announce that yes it is true and at long last my brother Denver (Den) and I are about to launch a new reptile magazine. This has come about because of our own passion for reptiles and that of other well respected herpers who are willing to share their experiences to help educate. The concept became a reality with the involvement of a relative, Paula Carboon, who is a respected publisher by trade. With her input and the encouragement from established and well known herpers across the globe the magazine was born.
The name of our new magazine is: "SCALES & TAILS Australia". The magazine is going to be a bi-monthly publication and will be distributed directly through selected newsagents and subscriptions. Our launch issue is on target to hit the stand in September and will be a must have for any reptile enthusiast. We won't go into too much detail regarding content at this stage, (we do have to keep some secrets), but you can be assured that the wait will be worth it.
There is one secret however that we do want to share with you. The magazine will be introducing a "Hatchlings" section, designed especially for our younger readers. To add to the excitement, we have invited our own young "Nikko Elmo" from this forum, to be a major contributor to the section with an "Ask Nikki" column in each issue. Congratulations Nikki on becoming part of the "Scales and Tails Australia" team. Finally Nikki, it's no longer a secret so you can now talk about it. (Nikki has been hanging out for this day for so long).
Apart from Nikki, we would like to thank other friends and associates from this forum who have helped enormously behind the scenes in the launch of 'SCALES AND TAILS Australia'.
Someone else we would like to introduce is Joy Kuligowski who will be heading up our Advertising and Sales/Marketing Division. Joy's wealth of knowledge in this field has been gained by many years of experience in the sales industry and we feel sure that she will enjoy helping you with any queries regarding advertising, sales, etc.
We know that some of you have a few ideas on what you would like to see profiled in the magazine and we definitely encourage your input. Our website is at the final stages of construction, so in the interim, please email your thoughts, ideas and any queries to: scalesandtailsaustralia@optusnet.com.au.
Ok, that's enough for now, more info will be announced in the next few days with regards to cover price, subscriptions, advertising, stories, classifieds, etc. Be sure to keep an eye out, as we will be offering a 'special' launch offer to those of interest.
Thanks
Troy K.

Thanks everyone for your best wishes. Troy and Denver have both been working very hard on this for the last few months to ensure that you all enjoy the new magazine, so this is a very exciting time for us all.
Just to answer your queries:
We are a National Magazine, so yes we will be available throughout all states of Australia, as well as by subscription. Details of a very special pre-launch subscription price will be posted on a thread within the next few days.
Our first issue will be sent out to subscribers and also available in newsagents in early September.
If you have any suggestions, queries or contributions, please feel free to email us at: scalesandtails@optusnet.com.au
Our website and permanent email address will be up soon.
