Hi Fay , I am forever waiting. The longest for me this season has been 4 weeks for an export permit. I thought it was personal ..... but maybe not

Hell yeah Fay.

I sent my books in late May (earlier than i would normally) and they took 3 weeks to get back!!
And then they only sent me 1 five page book, after they already knew i have something like 10 species, and i attached a note asking for another book since i have more coming in the next few months. Anyhow thats all since been fixed but i'm now waiting on 2 permits......sent them in like 12 days ago......they've got till tomorrow and then i'll be chasing them.

I actually spoke to a senior manager in Sydney the other day, and said I thought their service standard was pretty poor, especially when you look at your application for permits and it says 5 working days notice.. I am certain they need more staff, but won't hire any.... another cost saving that affects how herpers deal with others.

I put in two permits, sent them priority paid, even paid for them at the local office here, so the already had the funds by the time the letter got to them,, next day. And had to wait 2 weeks yet again. Seems it is an ongoing problem..

Yeah chances are thats what i'll have to do johnbowemonie.
Its just such an inconvienience having paid for herps and then having the sellers holding them until the bloody permits come in. I'm just lucky those waiting are very patient of our ridiculous system.

I know how you all feel i'm waiting on permit as well it has been 3 weeks i have found over the years that this department has been pretty good!! i just hope its not like my class 2 lic.I had to submit my application 3 times as it was faxed, received, then lost on 2 occasions!! anyway to cut a long story short 4 months later & 58 phone calls my lic. was finally upgraded!!

They probably will be swamped for the next month or 2. I suppose in a way we have ourselves to blame, how many of us waited until end April to get our books together and posted

My lonest time period for waitinf for a permit was 7days, My fastest was 2 days. They are undergoing a new species list etc and a few other things, IMO they shouldn't be doing it during the book returns.

Smile re Nsw

Apparently they are bar coding books i was told,if i havent got books i cant put stuff in them, ile start the next book off in mid may dates. The imp exp thing is a pain in the butt,we pay heaps and the other states are free imp an exp or minor charge like QLD,(WA is a lost cause).Apparently selling herps at the expo is not on either they say,so i wont be going to that, bummer.
