Question Number 2 License.

Iv had my number 1 license for 2 years now (or just over) and when i went to the Frog and Reptile show they said that i can have animals from a number 2 license (meaning my license has upgraded).. is this possible cause i thought you had to be 18 and im only 15..

No you can't. You need to be over 18. I have tried to get my class 2 many times and even with all the experience and the references etc they won't give it out.

I thought the references were for keeping vens, you don't need them for a non-ven Class 2.

you need to have class 1 animals of a similar type for 2 years..
can't keep pythons for 2 years then get class 2 monitors..
you need a class 1 monitor for 2 years to get class 2 monitors.. etc.

vens are a whole different set of rules, references etc

How would they know what reptile you were going to get once you had your class 2?

They will know what animal you aquired when you send in your book next year! The new system cross checks everything.... If you haven't kept class 1 animals of the one you aquire then you will get a phone call/visit.....

so from what I was told.....if you apply and pay for a class 2 licence for pythons(no refs needed), and you have had class 1 turtles for years but didn't actually apply for a class 2 Turtle licence then its ok to aquire a class 2 turtle anyway. They just check when your book comes in that you have had the class 1 equivalent.... (hope you can understand my ramble.....)

So when you apply for your class 2 you specify what you intend to buy on class 2?

that is how i was told by the NPWS at wild expo....
own class 1 animals similar for 2 years before getting your class 2 licence and then class 2 animals..

class 2 licence is not an open invitation to buy whatever you want.... read the licencing rules...

you could have had class 2 monitors for 10 years,
you would still need a class 1 python for 2 years before getting a class 2 python
