Odd Behaviour

I have a 7 month old Beardie who has been displaying some odd behaviour. He has been resting his head on the ground a lot, tipped over to one side. This would not happen all of the time but more than 50% of the time and he stoped climbing to the top of his branch. When he eats he turns his head to the extreme right then to the extreme left then right then left trying to line up his food then if the roach moves he misses and has to start again. It was almost like he had a major blind spot in front of his nose and the only way he could see what was in front of him was to twist his head right around. As he was not get his share of food (he lives with 2 others the same age) I started to feed him separately.

Anyway to night at feed time. I took him out to feed him and he seemed better he would look at the roach head on and BANG get it every time. For the minute anyway he seem to have recovered but I will be keeping an eye on him.

Has any one else seen this kind of thing before?

RE: Odd Behaviour

Hi Dragon-Drew. I've seen it before unfortunately. If you contact Beknluke (that's who I got my advice from) she will steer you in the right direction. \

From memory it could be 2 things too much calcium or it has eaten something too big for it.

RE: Odd Behaviour

Wow, I didn't think they could get too much calcium, I thought it would just pass through them. What other affects can happen with too much calcium and how do you know when you have given them too much, besides the obvious effects.

yes i have seen these exact symptoms in some of my 6 mth olds.the first time i seen it i put it down to shedding the eyes.the second a year or so later in a different
beardy(not related)was advised it was a calcium deficiatey so increased calcium and it stoped in 2/3 days... But iff it was to much calcium the bok choy i feed them would have absorbed it!! SO I DONT KNOW NOW what was it and what is the best way to stop it from happening in the future..BEKNLUKE do you know anything about it??? Every time i have seen it ..it has not lasted more than a few days and has never come back in the same dragon.!!.
