OFF TOPIC - any computer savvy ppl about

just wondering if there are any computer savvy ppl about, i reformatted my computer and now i cant get my other computer to connect to the internet, im sure its something simple, guess i shouldnt leave it so long between reformats and i might remember..lol

Have you added the hardware for your modem?

The one you formatted.
The computer has to recognise the modem for it to be able to connect.
The modem should have come with a CD with the appropriate driver & software on it.

I take it you have a desktop and a laptop.

You need to re-establish network connections

It is in control panel

the main computer is the one i reformatted and it is fine, the other computer is a desktop also and that is the one i cant get connected

Were they networked? or running 2 seperate connections?

Ok, so the main computer (formatted and OS Reinstalled) is directly connected to the modem, and that works and connects to the internet fine, but another pc which connects to the internet via local network and other (formatted and reinstalled) pc cannot connect to internet...
is that right?

main computer is thru usb, other computer through ethernet, from the same modem

I can think of three main areas to check
1 networking
2 firewall
3 internet connection settings etc
