For those of you who have kept dragons, i am wondering if you have ever had one die from old age?
If so what happened, what did you notice/learn.
Reason i ask is i have a dragon i beleive is going to leave any day now, and i beleive it is from old age.
I won't say my thoughts on the subject yet as i don't want it to influence anyone's answer, but your experiences, thoughts would be good.
Cheers

I had a EWD I thought would go anyday from old age, it gradually became really skinny even though it was still eating and lethargic and didnt show any signs of disease.
That was over 1 year ago, now it is fat and healthy. No idea what it was all about to this day.

Water dragons live for years, I havent had a bearded make it to 10 yet, they just fail to thrive anymore, they may make it through the winter but usually dont make it in spring when their metabolism speeds up.

i had a 3 legged eastern bluey that in my opinion died from old age, i only had her for 12 months but i got her in a bulk deal and was told she was one of the first the guy got,
she just started lossing weight and became very " slow", she just didn't want to move much, i still saw her eating every now and then, but she just slowly faded away until she passed during last winter, i just didn't have the heart to put her down and desided she deserved the right to pass from old age and not by me,
hope this helps,
cheers,
steve........

| A friend of mine has had a water dragon for just under 50 years, but it doesn't look to hit the magic mark.

Souly, is it possible that your dragon is just sulking? I know that dragons do this (even though i haven't kept any) but i have seen it in monitors, if you saw an old animal sulking, i reckon you could be excused for mistaking the two.
