Aussie Pythons and Snakes

On Sunday I decided it would be great to put my blueys and shingle outside for a bit of sun.... I had to go out suddenly (xmas shopping grrrrrr) I got home and was like oh **** the lizards..... got upstairs and they had all passed away

The balcony is half shade and half sun but is fully tiled and I presume that insulated the heat

NOTE TO SELF...... NEVER PUT REPTILES OUTSIDE ON THE BALCONY

Yeah my mum said the same thing..... "You wont be doing that in a hurry again will you"..... So sympathetic my mum

Oh well.... Trust me I wont be doing it again..... Still I am glad in a way cause I was going to put my beardys out there..... I would have had a heart attack if they died..... They are like my babies.... The blueys weren't the best handlers as they were originally pit animals, still a sad way to go

Sorry Matt but I find this comment quite disturbing. It was OK that the Blues died but not the Beardies????

i lost a bluie in the same way mate but have to say i was just a upset as i would have been if it were any of my reptiles.

Maybe mbilisset was trying to say that the sentimental value of the beardys was more than that of the blueys?Either way i have some nice jungles for example and a couple of pretty ordinary ones but i have had them all since hatchies and value them sentimentally all the sameregardless of what they cost,how they handle, etc,a herp is a herp and should all be treated with the same affection!!!Just my opinion on the matter that's all...

By the way mblisset very sorry for your loss!!!

i think i understand what he meant. my first snakey jules is my special little guy lol...i luv them all heaps but i think in some ways it would hit harder if jules died

. i would be absolutely devastated if any of them died but i think it would hurt a little more if it was him. maybe its more that i would miss him more cos he's the gentlest and gets handled the most? hope that doesnt sound insensitive

yea he isnt saying he is glad they passed away he is saying he is glad that he descided to put the beardies out aswell i personaly would be deverstated if any of my pets died but if bundy (my pet dog) died i think i would be alot more upset as i have had him for yonks and he is part of the family.

..... Although I can't help what has happened... I beat myself up over it on Sunday and has been eating away at me ever since.... Yes my beardys have more sentimental value to them.... They were my 1st ever reptiles and I am sure each and every one of you has a favourite and would be totally devastated to lose them.....

Sorry to hear that Matt, what a horrible thing to happen, very sad. Atleast you'll never make that mistake again, the terrible feeling you went/are going through will imprint on your mind indelibly!
Chalk it up to human error and dont feel too bad or be too down on yourself.
As long as they get unfiltered daylight there getting Uv, they dont need to be in direct sunlight if im not mistaken, maybe you can screen in the balcony in some way to keep it cool while still allowing daylight? Maybe also lay some fake turf over the tiles (prevent overheating from them) and provide some thick but hollow logs for hiding in (wood wont conduct heat well/cool inside) Also provide a large shallow water dish in shade. You live and learn mate, my commiserations.
