As for the "too expensive" claim to me this is not overly valid. Pet shops cannot compete with non shop front outlets but provide a different service (eg you see exactly what you are buying as you purchase it.) On the animal front purchasing directly from the breeder (eg: through the Herp Trader) should be and generally is cheaper but you won't get to see as much of a range when you make your purchase.
Pet shops are in business to make a profit. If they are doing a good job, their prices will appropriately reflect this. |
I have to agree with herptrader.
While petshops like pailsforscales & upmarket pets are always going to be more expensive than private breeders. Due to their overheads.
While both shops sell very good animals.
I find pails for scales a better alternative as it is a more relaxed atmosphere as it is not as crowded and is much easier to relax & shop around.
I also find that Roy Pails probably has the best and most knowledgible staff you can findthat are always very friendly & helpful.
Plus Roy being one of the founders with Brian Barnett of the reptile industry in Australia and the majority of the time you will find him in the shop to assist in your enquiries or purchases.
Plus he also employs a veterinary nurse and Mick Pugh a very knowledgible aquarium speciallist and also one the original reptile speciallist.
