Ive also found crompton to blow on a fairly regular basis...usually 2 days to 4 weeks.
I will give the GE a go.
Anyone else with some knowledge on other breeds of PartyGlobes?

The original dimming stat i used has had the same 40W bulb for almost 18months now.
Don't know what kind of thermostat you have used but thought i would add it in anyway. |

I dont use any thermostats, I just change the bulb dependent on the season (25w or 40w). Their on 24/7 during winter and a timer for summer to switch off during the hotter part of the day (when is summer arriving?). I use a dimmer in the incubator though, I agree that their the only way to go if you use thermostats.
All good.

For summer the G/E 25w globes were fantastic! Hardly any blew. G/E however do not make 40watt party globes.
So....Im onto either Osram or Phillips 40watt party globes at this stage.
Has anybody any recomendation either way? Phillips are reasonable, but Im wondering about Osram globes....thoughts?

I have an albino party globe, full grown (about 60W) - $1000, still rare in captivity.
Ontopic - Herpshop sells coloured globes for reasonable price... www.herpshop.com.au

Its not a problem at night as they dont get any heat at night.
They seem to last about 6 months.
Hope this helps.

Have you used the herpshop ones? Or anyone else regarding reliability of them?
Ausking, Ive heard some bad stories about that paint (poisonous odour and flaking)...unless theres something new and improved on the market....?
Mungus thanks for the idea, but it gets minus some nights out here, so heating at night is still the go...otherwise frosties would be good.
anyone else have comments on osram or other alternatives?
