You can get yourself a small heat mat, this should cover a third of the bottom of the enclosure and cost you about $60.00. You can use a heat mat for a juvenile instead of a light until you have an enclsure set up. You can also keep it in a click-clack until it is a bit bigger

Cool thanks. I have an old fish tank that i dont use anymore that is 16 inch long x 10 inch wide x 11 inch high. Is this big enough for a wile? Also i live in Yeppoon QLD which is 45 min drive from Rockhampton and it is usually 25 to 30 degrees here anyway so i dont think i will need heating.

Is it glass? Glass is harder to keep a gradient of temperature in. I would recommend a container, childrens as juveniles are still only little, it doesnt have to be a huge container. I have mine in a plastic fish tank from a cheap shop, cost about $15.00. All you need is F10, which is a reptile enclosure cleaner and some newspaper for a substrate.

No it is not a glass tank. Like you i got mine from a pet store and it cost about $20. I was also told that if i dilute bleach with water it is a good cleaner.

What Bitey said I use a terrarium cleaner cause they didnt have F10 but it does the same thing. That tank will be fine, get yourself a hidey hole, you can use an old tissue box or something and a small ceramic bowl for water. If you look on wiki it has some great advice!!

So as its maintained regularly, a rinse even in the sink after washing up is as good as anything. Clean up his crap as soon as you obvserve it, will help cut down the amont of chemicals you would need. F10 is expensive but a good anti-bacterial agent, especially useful when you have more than one reptile.

With your fish tank, I wonder if you put it in a cardboard box (just big enough for it) and cut the front of the box out, whether that could help hold the heat and provide a more stable gradient. Don't quote me, but someone else might be able say whether or not this could work.

Bleach should be perfectly fine to use - if it damages the snake then you've done a piss poor job of cleaning. Bleach evaporates... Clean with bleach, empty water, rinse, leave in sun.

Make sure you sanitise the hollow log first

Ok thanks. One more question tho, how can i make a lid for the tank that the snake wont get out of? I have considered making like a frame and stapleing flyscreen to it. Would this work?

yeah as long as the lid cannot be lifted by the snake from inside they are alot stronger than youd think
