Firstly.... Whats the best way to fix the 5cm plastic tracking in place for the Glass, in an enclosure....
Would like 1cm nails, at each end and in middle, with some pva glue be enough to hold it???
Other Ideas???????
Secondly... When ordering the Glass... I am aware how to measure the height of the glass in tracking.... But how much should the glass overlap??? With the locks that you buy, whats the minimum and maximum the glass can overlap???
Thanks very much in advance to all those that help me out.... Cheers......

With the over lap you could go to a pet store and measure the enclosures there and see what they have done. |

Measuring so it can be put in, and taken out of the tracking without dismantling the whole enclosure is the trick.
I think the glass should be about 5mm shorter that the hieght of the tracks, top to bottom.
I super glue my tracking in, never had an issue. |

Probably 2cm extra on each piece to give a total 4cm overlap would be fine. Trust me, I did it with my first bank of enclosures and now I have resorted to plastic door stops to hold the glass doors shut lol
I glue mine in plus add a nail here and there in the middle of the plastic, not where the glass slides.
Cheers

As I was told by one of the attendants there that they didnt even sell the 5mm plastic tracking.... SO I had a look and found it....
Okay....... so something like LIQUID NAILS should do the trick...... something in white seeing as the enclosure is white melamine...he he... |

Does the top not need nails??? or can I put the small nails in where the track slides, because in effect it will never slide along that surface anyways........
Might go, 3cm overlap each side Inbetween the comments so far... he he..... |

Can you ask them to groove out opening handles...??? Or whats everyone else do?? Just seen some people struggle to open the stiffer sliding doors, because their hand, or the glass is a lil slippery.....
Good Idea Nightowll...Might do that at a later stage when I have some hatchies........ |
