Rats vs Rabbits

Wondering if rabbits are more fatty than rats and about the nutritional value. It is for bhps as we have seen members talking about fatty liver in bhps from rats. So do rabbits, guniea pigs, kittens etc have lower fat amounts whilst still providing the same nutritional value??? If so would they be a better choice than rats.

For big snakes i prefer rabbits to 2 or 3 rats. Normally I use skinned rabbits and you can see there is very little fat on them.
I have never skinned a rat but I would guess they have to be fattier than rabbits.

rabbits as a general rule have less then half the body fat of a rat of the same size, nutritional value is higher, calcium levels are higher and digestion is more complete (better smelling feacel matter to ... thats always a bonus)

So then, rabbits the better bet maybe than rats if they would take them. Stink factor would have to be better too. Does anyone feed their bhps rabbits etc as opposed to rats.

Looks like my olives are on healthy diet.
By the way grebs, I did see the skinned rats in China. Did not noticed much fat but. Looks like Chinese rats are les fat. All this kung fu practice give them better condition.

Just keeping on with the fat factor in rats? If we fed our grow out rats with almond chips from the local almond factory, along with the fresh fruit and veg. as well as our special McMannus Rodent Pellets that we buy by the Ton, would that make the Rats too fatty for Snakes??? Some advice would help here people?? Thanks Cheryl

Just another word. We only keep male weaners to grow out as they grow a lot quicker than the girlies. They get lots of carrots, pumpkins, a bit of wheat, but are looking at the Almond Chips as well. Free Feed hey? Cheers Cheryl

Are you talking about rabbits or rats?

I like rabbits because of cost factors. My big diamonds can easily eat 3 x-large rats, whereas I can get a rabbit for less than half the cost of 3 rats.If they are heathier for them...even better.

I'm told they go down more readily because the fur is finer and less co**** than a rats.
