Hi,
I just bought a 7 month old coastal carpet python and I'm using ReptiBark in his enclosure. The lady at the pet shop told me it's the best thing to use but when I fed my snake for the first time last night he got a few (kind of big considering his size) pieces of bark in his mouth. Should I be worried or would he be fine with this going through his body and digesting it?
Also, is ReptiBark really the preffered bedding for snakes?

It looks good but i think if your going to use the repti bark you should remove him and feed him in a tub seperatly. not sure about the ingesting bark question.

preferred substrate for snakes is newspaper, i line the bottom of the cage wtih full papers that soak up all the wetness when he craps.
so clean, easy to replace and safe.
i'd be keeping an eye on his poos till he passes the bark u think he ate, i dont think bark is digestable. i know it isnt for lizards, so i expect it wouldnt be with snakes.

Make sure you feed the snake in a seperate tub if you continue to use the bark. Iused it with lizards and if you have a white enclosure you will soon see how much dust it leaves after your first big clean out.
Paper IMO is by far the best substrate you can use for snakes, easy to clean and you get all of the waste out every clean, plus it is a lot safer to feed your snake in the enclosure.
If you are going to go for something more visually appealing try aspen. I only use it for lizards so they can burrow, but i seems to have less dust and is easier to spot clean, and to spot any faecies.
