Reptile Awareness Courses/Workshops

Does anyone know of any courses or workshops for reptile awareness. I have friends that have moved from the UK with their children and have brought property in the middle of nowhere, Victoria. They are looking for something for their kids awareness

A few people I know from the UK are nervous about reptiles when they come to Australia. If you are just wanting general precautions to take and a bit of info, probably one of the keeper talks at Healesville sanctuary would be a good place to start.

I'm not sure if anyone does anything like that, my suggestion if you can't find any workshops would be to spend a few weeks doing there own research. Hit the local library for books, search the internet, visit a zoo & ask the locals for info on what snakes they are most likely to see in their area. They could make a poster or something with pics & names of local species so the kids get familiar with the animals they are likely to see around their property, dangerous or otherwise. Hope this helps & good luck to your friends
Timthevet where is your clinic in Melbourne, if you don't mind me asking?

that, and also just pretty much warn them DONT TOUCH ANYTHING. isnt it 90% of snakes in aus are vens? or can kill you? or something? if you brainwash them right, theyll run a mile at anything that moves

its hard to keep a young child focused at reading about anything, even reptiles, a trip to some zoos and some picture books would be great to start teaching them wouldnt it?

I attended a reptile talk at Griffith University today. It was organised by the Queensland Museum.

Ring the Melbourne Museum and see what they have happening where.
