Salmonella?

Hey I was just wondering is salmonella in Australia? I've read it can be pretty bad and you need to wash your hands thourghly after handling reptiles, but is it actualy in Australia?

Can someone give me a bit of background?

Love Scarlet

What makes you think it's only certain countries? =P

I think the general rule is to wash your hands before and after handling.

i thought it was everywhere. and i generally wash my hands after handling any of my pets, reptile, dog etc etc. and really you're taking the same germaphobic risk eating take away, touching things, breathing in places.

just my view anyway,
Josh

Just make sure you wash your hands after touching your reptiles, then you will be fine.

I started a thread about this when I was pregnant & the conclusion was that if you are careful & wash your hands a lot then you will minimise the risk to virtually zero. There is more chance of getting Salmonella from handling & cleaning rodents cages & eating at dirty take away restaraunts
