That would be very aggitating to the snake, alcohol and strong perfums incite strong adverse reactions........no wonder he bit you, it would have been annoying the **** out of him.

mate you should be using a antibacterial wash before handling all of your reptile i would also recommend using it after as well. i don't believe you have the experience to advise me on using a disease control measure. the alcohol (for this individual snake) is also a method of reducing aggression as he will not think i am food.

However, correct practice of it's use would see it to be completely absorbed and/or dry with very little to no trace of it left on your hands and there are also non-alcohol based anti-bacterials such as F10. Otherwise it will aggitate the snake and may cause it to bite. I never told you not to use it so don't go putting words in my mouth.

he was searching for a spot far enough down my arm that didn't have the alco hand wash on it
| That to me sounded like he was looking for an area which was not aggitating his senses and lead me to believe you had it on your skin as a deterrant to the snake biting you. Sorry if this was not the case.
P.S. How do you know what level of experience i have?? For all you know i could be doing a Bsc Biology with a major in Bacterial Disease and immune function

ahh so you believe that letting an alcohol wash or F10 dry removes almost all residues from your skin.. it is comments like this that i use for my educated guess that you are in no position to advise me. i now ask you to go use an alcohol wash or even F10 (which is the disinfectant i recommend) let it dry and then lick your hand and i think you will find you will have quite a fowl taste in your mouth. i do not pick up my snakes with a 1 cm lathered layer of wet alcohol wash and the above statement about him searching for a place that did not aggravate his senses is exactly right he was looking for an area that was a stimulant to his senses now before you go assuming any other information from statements within this post you would be happy to know that this individual snake who is simply aimlessly aggressive has had a huge turn over since i started using a no water alcohol wash.
