RE: sealant for enclosure

if its malamine, you dont need to seal it, just the joints and for that, i use aquarium silicon.

Any sort of waterproof silicon will do the job.

I used No More Gaps. It blends in, as it is white in colour.

Why do you need to seal it? Im not trying to sound smart... im geuinely interested.... is it so the snake cant get out, or the humidity, or wat?

Sikaflex is the best (IMO) , the same stuff they use to seal the windscreen of your car with and it comes in white as well as many other colours.

Malamine is usually not sealed at the edges, and it soaks in water from there like a sponge making the wood rot and un-hygienic, therefore if you seal the joints with silicon it stops this happening.

RE: Re: RE: sealant for enclosure

To add to what shermy said, the water absorbed by melamine will cause it to "explode" and before long you have a useless enclosure. Once any liquid gets in the wood swells and crack the melamine.
