Probing can be done as soon as they've left the egg.

You just need to be very gentle if you are probing a small animal.
Do not force the probe in.
Twist it back and forth gently and let it glide in.

Sorry but I dont tyhink we should be telling people how to probe here. It is something that should be learnt in a face to face situation. JMO

I was under the impression the snake was going to either a vet or someone that knew what they are doing i was only saying that you must be very gentle when doing a small animal(should also be gentle with a larger snake aswell for that matter) i did not go into depths about explaining how to do it because i was not explaining how to do it.I did not say where to go with the probe and how far is what, lubricants,to go down tail etc. none of this I mentioned.

But thanks for pointing that out i should have been clearer and stated something saying 'this is not a lesson in probing', only to be very gentle when doing small snakes and not to push it straight in that may have saved confusing ppl.
And i agree learning 1 on 1 is the only way to learn that was how i learned from my vet

Yer Neil I'm sure of it.
Would have to right a page on the other subject for us to understand fully and go about that kind of thing with the ladies.
They are not as easy to please as reptiles.
No offence ladies, more of a compliment really.

Thanks Robert.
I wasnt planning on attempting this myself, just interested in opinions as to when to get it done this is why i joined this site.
I want to learn as much as possible and i believe i will keep learning for as long as i own reptiles. It is good to know these things so when i do take my snake in i will know if its being done correctly, if they are being rough. Thanks again Robert i appreciate your info.
