I am not too experienced with these matters but i would sugest putting him in a wet bag while making sure its still warm enough and then gently rubbing it, not scratcking, or maybe a soak. But get a second oppinion.

you can try soke your snake in a bucket filled with 2 inches worth of warm water for about 30mins or so and then try rubbing it gently to try to peel it off or alternatively, while the snake is soaking throw some strips of newspaper(maybe around 3cm wide) in there as i have found my snakes tend to get it off themselves this way.
Oh yeah make sure whatever your going to use has a lid as the snake will try to get out and dont worry pythons are natural born swimmers.
Hope i have helped

we give all our pythons regular swims, most of them do seem to enjoy it, some to the point of getting rather bad tempered when you try to take them out!!! it does seem to help in the shedding and they seem to benifit from it, we just have an old plastic fish tank, with the normal plastic mesh lid, it works well and is secure, and it does help to get any remaining shed off them, i normally run them through my hands as i put them away and any thing that was left on comes off really easy, good luck!!

It can be difficult to assist them shedding on the face and about the nostrils, the soaking methods work well for the body, but I recently had the issue of retained facial skin on my maccie. I used cotton pads (not balls, no loose fibres) soaked in warm water to soften around the face and we also body soaked in a tub for nearly half an hour but to no avail. Fortunately, a few weeks later he shed again, I kept the humidity up for the entire cycle and this time it was a perfect shed. I wish you well, but don't stress if it doesn't come off this time, if your python is in good health and there is enough humidity it will most likely come off in the next shed cycle. Retained skin can cause problems though, and if you are at all concerned, it's worth a visit to your herp vet, if you don't have one yet, it's a great relationship to build for the future
Let us know how you get on
Cheers

I had the same on a piece on the side of his body, it was there when I bought him.

Next one I just had the humidity a little higher than recommended but a perfect shed.

From what i've read, as long as its not circuling the body or tail, which can cause constriction similar to ringbark I believe it is ok.

There are a couple of areas that you should be making sure that come off on every shed,

I am sure you already know, but just in case somene else new wants to know, ensure that you get the specticles, (both) and the very tip of the tail.

Nostrils are quite important also.

I have found that taking them for a bit of a shower every so often will help, so with Shelby on the water idea there. Just once they start to get a decent size, you may want to rethink, various reasons which we wont divulge here.

I am sure your little guy will be fine, just make sure the important bits have been shed

ahh sorry - I totally misread this post then!

I hope all goes well with your visit - as Kali said there are important bits to get off with every shed, but my maccie made it to the next shed and then finished the job properly, retained eye caps et al.
We were under vetinary care though as he has regular antibiotics for RI so is regularly examined. Last injection this friday!!! woohoo!

Try not to worry, often a bad shed will be made up for next time, but if it continues, definitely bits can be problematic, I'm sure you'll get all the advice you need tomorrow.

Cheers
