Shedding

General Shedding
Suggestions to get snakes to shed more (in captivity??)
More treatment on eye dose 'revolution'

What is used to get rid of ticks on snakes?

I need to make a small report on this stuff. And I have so much work to do already. I'm too scared to ask the vet to clarify half the things. haha.

Was hoping some of you people could help me out.

Cheers

Vince.

ONly way to make them shed more often i would think is to give them constant temps and feed them more... can't see why you would want to though.

And TOD is usually used to get rid of ticks/mites, but i have heard of olive oil working.

I need to clarify what the hell she wants done. Every vet should know this sort of stuff, especially if she owns a carpet herself.

As if make the work experience kid do it!!!

Does anybody have links related to shedding? Whether it be broad or general. Broad would be much better though. Also, how to make Snakes 'shed more in captivity'. What i think she means is, how can Humans help the process? Tell me if that makes sense to you.

Does she want to know how to make a snake shed more often, or more easily?
Snakes shed cos they're getting to big for their skin (cos they're eating more) or sometimes cos they're sick. You definitely DON'T want them shedding more cos they're sick!! Feed them regularly and they'll shed regularly.
Hatchlings will of course shed more often than adults cos they grow faster quicker.

To try to make sure a snake sheds better, cleaner and more easily, make sure there's water in with him/her so that they can soak. Some snakes, like my little mac, sometimes avoid water and have messy sheds. I either sprinkle some water over the newspaper when she goes milky, or I have put her water bowl on the heat to increase the humidity in her box.
If a snake does a messy shed, a good way to ease it off is to put the snake in a box with a little water, but make sure they have to be at least partly in the water. Ensure that the box is in a well lit area tho, as snakes in water in the dark have been known to drown.

I hope that that answers part of the question!!

Another way you can help your snake at shedding time is to give it baths in tepid water every day. This is especially useful if you live in a dry climate. I give my snake baths, and it helps a lot.
