RE: Extreme Pets

None, they're in NSW and can't retail reptiles.

RE: Extreme Pets

No. No shops in NSW are legally allowed to sell any sort of reptile.

RE: Extreme Pets

Speaking of this issue, I would like your advice about advice I gave out to a customer in my store. She a passing traveller who says she lives just this side of the NSW/QLD border, technically lives in NSW. She has just received a NSW Reptile License.

Now she was looking for a shop that sells geckos. As we aren't allowed to sell reptiles in NSW she figured she could just duck across the border to get her gecko and take it back home. But I told her to be careful that she doesn't attract attention from NSW NPWS for bringing reptiles across the border, & that the shops in QLD may not even sell them to her without an Importers Permit. I told her she may have to apply for an Importers License, regardless of the fact that she can walk from one state to the next.

I wasn't really 100% sure, and I told her I wasn't, but would this be the case, living on the borders? Still can't walk across the "road" between two states and walk back with a reptile sold on the other side?

Yep Kathy, she's still have to do whatever paperwork each state requires. She couldn't put it onto her NSW licence if she had no acknowledged (& legal) source of the animals in Qld.

RE: Extreme Pets

Even if she buys it from QLD, she will still need to apply for an import permit from QLD. She will not be able to put the animal onto her licence from purchasing direct in QLD as, besides the fact she is not allowed, there laws are different and she would not have the required licence for a QLD pet shop to sell her the animal legally on licence.

RE: Extreme Pets

Same goes for people in Albury, who want to buy from a petshop in Wodonga.
