Here's my viv, pretty standard really. 800L x 800H x 600W. Just the 2 Western Dwarf Beardies in there atm, but expecting my 6 eggs to hatch in Dec! Once they've hatched i've got a separate, smaller, aquarium-type viv ready for them, then once they're big enough they'll go in with these 2.

Oh, and the substrate in my viv has been changed since that point, i realise it is utterly disgustingly filthy lol.

sand in dish is just a basking spot and yep makes for easier cleaning and im paranoid about them eating on sand and possably getting an impaction not worth it imo, he loves the sand he swims in it

Oh wow, cool. I've never considered that. Had my beardies on red desert sand for the past 2 years without incident, altho will definitely put my hatchies on repti-carpet or something.

Fair enuf tho, each to their own, im willing to risk it, but maybe ive just been luckier than others.

Can I just ask, what do beardies live on in the wild?? Pretty sure they would ingest a bit of sand now and then

yes in the wild they sometimes live in sandy areas but not 100% of the time, i live in singleton and we dont have a hole lot of sandy areas around here but we do have a stack of dragons, they are everywhere here, i like to mix it up a bit for them with sand, fake grass, newspaper and branches for climbing on ,and mine do tend to spend time on all different areas

but as was said each to their own
