| | | My 9 mnth ? old beardie is quite shy and wont eat if anyone is watching. For the first week in my care it ate noting but mealworms and didnt care if it was seen. Now he wont touch the mealworms - and wont eat anything else other than chopped zuccini (I pepper it with crushed beardie pellets / calcium occasionally). He will not let us se him eat , ignoring the food but come back later and hes been at it. Anyone else seen something like this. How can I promote him to be more of an extrovert. I also want to get him on some woodies occasionally but hes not interested in them or Cx. |

at 9 mnths mine dont eat every day....
....im not good at explaing but will try,... if you let a child munch all day...they dont eat properly
they will eat what they want but not what good for them!
so if you gave it woodies ,(say on Monday....also hoping you use a feed tank/tub,not feeding live insects in the habitat)......after lunch when the dragon is warm enough to be hungry
then Tuesday...only give it greens..(eg:endive,bukchoy varieties...& pumkin as a garnish) also after noon
then Wednesday, try crickets in the feed tank(that have been placed in a container in the fridge for 10 min...to slow them down)...same time of day
basically by feeding in a feed tank...not only are you protecting your dragon from being eaten...but stress
which can stop them eating
also trains them to eat when in the feed tank
Greens i do put in the habitat....occasionally i add mealworms...using a inescapable dish..like a low ceramic dog dish
the will eat the veg...even if its by mistake
when your dragon is eating every day...then its safe to give a nil day a week at this age
this doesnt starve them...but excites them to eat....thus they eat more | | |
