well heres the story, i have a 1 month old costal that i have had for about a week and a bit and its stressed out and i have been leaving it alone for about a week now trying to let him settle down, and i have told my dad that the snake is stressed and to stop goin in my room to look at him.. so what does he do he invites my cousins to come up to have a look at him and this is the most stressed out i have ever seen my python he even striked at my cousin from inside his enclosure and i have told my dad numerous times to stop taking people in there and puting there face right up against his enclosure.. so what does my dad do next, he goes back into my room and trys to get my python OUT! and i told him to stop it but my dad thinks he knows everything about snakes and he is saying " nah hes not in a strike position, he'll be alright " im telling you the way my snaked looked, a cat that has been knocked in the head with a hammer could tell that he is in a strike postion and that hes stressed out.. i yelled at my dad telling him to stop going in there and to stop bringing strangers to the snake to have a look.. and now he is talking about bringing my neighbours and there kids over to look at him.. i dont whos stressed out more me or the snake

Have you taken the time to explain what stress will do to the snake and that it may kill it?
Also point out that stress isnt a visible thing and even the most experienced keeper cant always tell if a snake is stressed, you can sometimes easily tell by their behaviour but often you cant.

Sounds like your dad's one big excited kid.
Invite all ur mates over one day to watch him while he's trying to relax. Maybe get them to poke him a bit too lol
I locked my diamond up when i first got him and only i had the hey, that might solve your problem. I see why ur frustrated tho. It'll settle down, hope it soon. |

Geese sounds like a real drama. If I were u and oviously your dad thinks it's more of a attraction than a living animal. Then I would cover it's enclosure completely with newspapers n sticky tape. (this helping the snake and stoping anyone from looking in). If this dosn't work than I would put the snake (specially if it's a baby) in one of them little click clacks and put it somewere were it can't be found for the next two weeks. It wont' hurt it to stay in a click clack for this length of time (without heat or u.v) and I wouldnt' disturb it (only for water change). Once the two weeks is up then I would put it back in it's usual enclosure (or leave it in the click clack) I've found there much more relaxed in these anyway. If your dad asks were it is tell him u don't know it's gone missing lol. Hope this helps and what a horrid situation to be in.

If you can't get your Dad to see reason, you might be better off thinking about moving this snake on to a new home where it can settle.
What is going on now is a form of animal cruelty and for the sake of your snakes health, a new home could be the nicest thing you could do for it.
Maybe look at getting a calmer snake instead if your Dad can't see this. Good on you for recognising there is a problem here.
