I asked the question about the gaps also. On the top of the rack the is a sleeve with a tensioning bolt which tightens up to close the gaps.

The problem with the gap, is that they arn't put together by the owner properly. At all the shows and expos, the ones on display are not done up tight at all which is a shame as some people just look at the gap and go Pfft and walk away. You need to tighten the top bolts well, then shake the c##p out of it, then tighten, shake, tighten ect... untill gaps are gone, and spacers don't spin around. Dicky, I have my stims and young womas in the V70, and I'll be getting the bigger one next season for larger pythons.

if you are too worried about the gap you could trim a couple of millimeters off each spacer but I can't see there being a problem. The baby rack has less of a gap than the other racks

I too have a number of these racks, from the hatcho rack,v35,and v70 the gap in the v35,and v70 is less then what you would get in the a normal glass sliding enclosure,so you wouldn't keep hatcho's in the v35 or v70 anyway.
As for the level 15 hatchling rack it's the best money I have ever spent, I got my money back on my first clutch.

Thanks for the replies. My main concern was the loss of heat, with the distance between the cord & the base of the tub.Apart from that they seem very practical. Thanks

C moore, Slitherin racks are the bees knees in rack systems. They maintain excellent temps, humidity, thermal gradients etc. As has been said they are completely versatile, so have as much heating or as little as you like.

No problems holding correct temps in cooler months etc, use in conjunction with themostats. The gaps you are referring to only occur occationally on some of the larger models. I have multiple hatchie racks never a problem or escapee. Also multiple V35 and V70's also never a problem. The biggest gap I have experienced is in a V70, which could be reduced as someone pointed out, but I have no problems with it. The snakes are not small enough to even come close to getting out and they can not slide a tub drawer in or out, it is impossible. While they can certainly put pressure on the top, bottom or a side by pushing on it, that is not going to slide the tub out from the rack. The gap from the cord to the bottom of the tub is negligable and no signifficant heat loss occurs. Especially since the tubs are effectively heated from the cord underneath them, but also from the one above heating the next rack up. The heated end is always warm and as long as your ambient room temps are cool enough, there is always a significant thermal difference between each end of the tub.

Hope that helps!
Zac.

Yeah. I use them for all my adult Elapids and Pythons. I use the V70's for the smaller stuff.Their excellent, make cleaning so much quicker and easier.
