small lumps

hey all. i have a coastal carpet that has been spending a lot of time in his water dish.
fearing he might have mites i checked him all over (not really knowing what to look for) but in process i noticed he has some small lumps in his skin. i read somewhere that this could mean skin worms, if so what do i do?, is there a wormer you can add to water or food?
the lumps are mostly on his neck but do continue down his body a short way.
also was wondering what people use for mite treatment, i was told just to use "top of descent" and spray a small amount into each enclosure once a week (after removing water).
sorry if these Q's have been answered before, i did a quick search but didn't find much info.
p.s. no pics cos am away from home for the next few days due to uni exams.

i would take to vet.
i use top of decent, sprayed cage and directly on pythons, works great! make sure you take water bowl out first. repeat treatment after a couple of weeks to kill any eggs that could of survived the first treatment.

after i sprayed my pythons i put em in a box with white paper on the bottom. leave em there for 20 mins and have a look at the bottom and you can see all the dead mites that have dropped off on the paper. i dont know what the lumps could be?

i read a sticky thread posted by someone on a health checkup for pythons. they said to look out for half pea sized lumps as these could be a sign of skin worms possibly indicating that the snake was wild caught. i'm fairly sure that it wasn't wild caught, but the lumps are about half pea sized. so if anybody knows anything please speakup.

If it does have skin worms, do not use a wormer. If you manage to kill those worms, they will rot inside the python. Skin worms are usually removed through a small cut in the skin. However they usually do no harm to the snake.

Skin lumps can be caused by numerous things including infection (parasites, bacteria, fungi), inflammation, obesity and tumours. The worms you are talking about (spirometra) are usually harmless if they are the cause.

Skin worms are usually the result of eating frogs or lizards(which can be loaded with parasites). A captive python thats fed on disease-free rodents shouldn't really get skin worms, but its still possible.

I believe skin worms are the larvae of Tapeworms, so i would get a vet to do a faecal check for tapeworms.

What evidence is there of mites? Don't spray unless they do have them.
