Can i get perlite from bunnings? and how do u use it, if you dont mind me asking.
i use it the same as vermiculite, 1 to 1, not sure if thats right, but it is working for me,

i use half vermiculite on the bottom and then put the perlite on top,

i got mine from big w. but they should have it,

Ok, thanks ponybug. I'll keep looking for the bigger one and if i cant find it then i'll give that a try.

I think I'll check out a nursery for the large vermiculite, they should have it.

Hydroponics stores will have what you are after. You can get a large bag of grade 3 or 4 for around $30-$40, they will also make up smaller bags for you.

Im about to go to my local one to check it out for myself, but if your near one it might be worth a look.

If you have to use the the smaller sized vermiculite, you can get around the potential problems associated with it by either using a layer of perlite on top, or having the eggs on a platform above the vermiculite. It's all the same.

Thanks tfor2, I have a garden centre near by and I'll write back if i get it so others around here know where they might also be able to get it from if need be.

MrBredli, thank u so much i didnt know that woud do it. Thats great!!! I have some nice thick (well not thick but sturdy enough) 1cm plastic mesh. Oh thats a relief thanks heaps!!

W.T.BUY, I guess we're talking about the same one then. Do u use a platform? If not have u ever incubated like this before and how was your hatch rate? Soo many questions, but hey, it'll hopefully help more people than just me.
