Hell yeah, especially pet ones.
My mother thought it would be a good idea to introduce my boxer pup to her pet rabbit so they would "get along" and be able to share the yard in the future. Wrong answer, it opened the pups nose like a can of sardines

As several people pointed out, it was protecting its young. An invading foreign force can never beat a determined local populace.

I think its from the Simpson's - but it applies to that, and Vietnam. It rather depends on your definition of defeat though. It could be argued that Poland was rapidly defeated in ww2. But the resistance went on the entire time, still inflicting casualties the whole time.

lol go rabbit (poor snake). Yep them rabbits can be nasty devils, years ago we owned one when I was living at my parents and boy it was more dog than the dogs. It owned the kitchen dinning table and boy you went four ft near the table and watch out lol, it would get right up on it's back legs and thump and you then come at you like a cat with attitude . He's name was thumper.
