Snake Enclosure q's

Hey,

I am after some info on an internal snake enclosure. I am doing up a spare double garage at the moment and was thinking of converting one wall (floor to ceiling) into an enclosure, it would be quite large I know, but I thought it would not only give the snakes (I was thiking a pair) plenty of room, but also what a great feature.

There will be TV, stereo etc... in the same room, the noise won't be loud but should the room be kept quiet?? Also, what about smell???

Regards,

Mikk

if you do a few searches, you will find there are a few enclosures which are floor roof size.

Snakes cant hear the noise, though the vibrations could disturb them.

They dont really smell at all well not that i find they do

Why do you want to house them together, you have the space, just make two enclosures

What sort of snake are you getting??

I was going to house them together in the hope that they would breed. I was hoping either for a pair of BHPs or Carpets.

ive done some reading and apparently some (perhaps all) can hear :S I read somewhere that the vibrations pass through the skeletal structure and then in turn into some form of ear drum in the snakes head. I know that's vague but its the lamens description

For an enclosure of that size you would be better off with semi arboreal snakes that would use the height of the enclosure. The BHP's are terrestrial, and although may use the height at times would spend most of their time on the ground.

J&C is on the money there.,

probably want to go for coastals, with a tall enclosure, they would get most use out of it.

Big olives would love a cage that size, even scrubbies, extremely large cage = large snakes

they're a class 2 snake. They grow quite big and you generally dont feed an adult scrubbie alone
