No snake should ever be sticky/oily after a shed. They will look oily, but should be dry to touch. I think the new skin has come off with the old, and that is not good!! Snakes have died from premature shedding.

I dunno much about the histology of reptile skin, but usually the epidermis (which I assume is the scales and their membraney thing) isn't directly supplied by blood... Nutrients diffuse from capillaries under th epidermis.. So it's odd septacemia (blood poisonng) affected the skin.. |
