Anyway... i know some snakes eat eggs out of bird nests and was wonering which ones? would it be ok to feed a snake the occasional egg?

I think I heard somewhere that a bit of egg can be good for something refusing food if they're still drinking water, take the water away and give them egg instead.

You'll notice I say once.
What comes out the other end is runny, yellow and smells like the worst rotten egg fart you've ever smelt!

|  | Sponsor | Join Date: May-04 Location: Melbourne | | | | RE: Snakes and Eggs, not snake eggs Egg eating snakes tend to be small and eat small eggs. I believe most have a bony structure inside their mouths with which to crack the egg. The contents of the egg are swallowed and the shell spat out.
I would image that if you evolved to eat eggs you would be able to digest them effieciently and what comes out the other end would not be overly arromatic.
I have heard of Australian snakes (eg taipans) in captivity eating the eggs of their cage mate as they are being laid. I am pretty sure however that you are talking of chicken eggs and not reptile eggs.
