Snappy

Mineko, my 6mnth coastal has never bit before and only ever struck at me when handled for the first few times but suddenly she has turned snappy, tagging my boyfriend 3 times and even striking at the glass in his direction after he put her back in her enclosure. Previously she has been handling really well.

She has missed a feed by a day or two because we were away for a few days but she can't be expecting her meal?!?!
We later found out that the light of the room she is kept in has been left on for 3 days, she has her hide to retreat to but could this be why she's so grumpy? (I know I would be!)

Or is their an age where females tend to get snappy and can this habit be coaxed out of them?

RE: Snappy

My diamond hybrid did just the same. she was great when little but then started to get snappy and stayed that way for years until I stopped feeding her in her cage (and moved her to a different cage).

Do you feed her in her tank?

I also have a mad crazy Bredli here but it has always been that way. It may be just the snake.

RE: Snappy

My adult olive python is the same sort of story line as the other snakes. She was good to handle but i needed to keep her inside a smaller enclosure for a couple of weeks but she didn't take to well to that and has been extremely agressive ever since. I now have her in a great big enclosure where she is so happy but still none the less aggressive as a scrub python. The enclosure i have her in is designed to keep a scrub python or two, maybe its something about the enclosure. She is a good feeder and is growing well so i do not mind at all. Love the snakes with character.
