yep do a layer on the inside too with a sheet of polystyrene between you have to remember the original poster is from north qld so heat retention wouldnt be such a big issue there

because of the normal lights going out of production, i was testing out some of the different ones to see if they gave out heat, but sadly they didn't,

hix, the block of 4 cost us around $600.00 and the block of 5 around $750.00, but we do have some stuff left over to start the next lot,

yes guys, i should have said i was in nth qld and to much heat is my trouble in summer, but you could easily insulate them, i've just used them through winter and my snakes loved them, i'm looking forward to seeing how they go in summer for heat...........

how does Perspex rate against glass in the way of insulation properties, i know it wouldn't be much but from where i come from any is good. also what's the general price comparison?
by the way, nice looking bank Steve

Cheers
Andrew

the main reason was i couldn't screw the glass to the frames,

not sure on glass costs, but the perspex cost me $103.00 for a 2400 x 1200 x 3mm sheet

no glass, i used perspex, cheaper and can be drilled and screwed onto the aluminum,
I used to use a similar product many years ago for making suspended aviaries for conures and lorikeets etc. Was called Speedframe (or something like that) and used to get the 25mm square aluminim tubing from Alcan in Sydney in bulk and the Speedframe fittings from Dexion.

Great stuff and very easy to work with.

hey pony,

you could always send me these enclosures so that you are kept busy makign some more i'll pm you my address if you like

but on a more serious note (but less rewarding), do you reckon you could just hindge perspects for a door with no frame. or would it simply be better and stronger wiht a frame that the perspecs is bolted to? hahah i know im looking for short cuts but im tired and useless

cheers
H.

hi helikaon, lol, now why didn't i think about that, i could just keep building them and sending them to all the aps members, they could be done in flat packs, all you would need was a screw driver and hammer, i think that would do it,

as for the door, for the strength it would be better to keep the frame, remembering i have an 8 ft coastal in one of the cages, and in the end they will all be holding 6 to 8 ft coastal/darwins and 5 ft jungles, if you were just keeping smaller snakes i guess you could go with your idea, but for me i wouldn't.........

hi crush, to my knowledge you can't, you have to remember the frame work can't be bought anywhere, it is specially made and sold at aluminum dealers with the joiners for making shelves and benches, and now enclosures,

i'd like to say thanks to boa / ash for showing me how he used it to make some of his enclosures, if it wasn't for his help and ideas i wouldn't have been able to make these.............
