I've heard they have the capability to grow to over 10ft mines only just over 4ft and shes gorgeous with perfect temprement, the breeder i got her off fed her only on live mice, i tried to give her frozen and she took it straight away without hesitation, now she only eats frozen, great handler, even wild ones untouched by man i have found to be really placid without striking at all

And secondly, do most people here in Aust. hybernate their Diamonds for a few months??

Unfortunately Stan Chiras isn't the most respected Diamond Python keeper out there, mainly due to the way he would cool his Diamonds during winter. However it is important for the health of a Diamond that it be cooled correctly for at least 3 months during winter, in addition to cool nights throughout the rest of the year..
Also, UV light is not needed for diamonds, but correct temps are!

Ahh I see... So then how would you personally go about the cooling? And what specifically is poor about his method?

try not to give them any heat at night, even in winter.if outside in the southern states make sure they have access to a basking site in the sun and a good thick-walled hide box and they wont need any additional heating.i keep mine outside up here in central qld in the coolest part of the yard, betweew the fence and shed and they are thriving, and they even bred this year.
i'm not too sure about that artical from stan chiras.he said the male diamonds dont combat. i have 2 males that have combated the last 2 years .
focus on temperature more so than uv,try to copy what they encounter in the wild.dont be too worried if the temps get close to freezing.they cope alright in the bush or in an old shed.if they have a good hide box they will be fine.
