he is a cutie!
one tip tho
get rid of the sand, its bad for them because when they go to the loo it can cause it to get up inside them and then the trouble starts, i use these bark chip type things in mine and it works well

Miss - That's crazy - I keep all my small Monitors on sand and have never had a problem - in fact, Monitors LOVE digging and in my opinion should be given as much sand/soil as you can possibly manage...

most monitors live in sandy areas, where do you think spencers come from?

I am not saying ALL monitors, im saying the way spencers go to the loo can cause sand to stick and then go inside of them which can be deadly too them, it can cause infections etc, u can always call up ultimate reptile suppliers the breeders there will tell u the exact same thing

yes i have had kept spencers, a group of 6 ranging from hatchlings the 3 footers.
all monitors crap in the same sort of way even rubbing the vent across the sand to sent stuff.

and no dont take it the wrong way everyone has there own opinions but sand with them especially the fine stuff can really effect them, and i no its stupid because montiors have sand in alot of there natural habitats etc but trust me if u work out what im saying and find out a bit more info u will understand alot more about why its best not to use it in captivity

I wonder how they go in the wild with no vets about or no one to tell them not to crap in the sand. Where they come from is nothing but sand.

Dam monitors sound just perfect! I so wont one now. My plans of extending my snake family have just been all confused. I love my snakes but it would be cool to have some little monitors that run around and play and jump. Fun to watch. Hmmm.......

nice monitor...
how old is he? how big should they get?
do you feed them like a beardie, insects and greens?
or like a snake?rodents?

i'm thinking about adding a spencers or a mertins to my little family of darwin carpets
