Spotted hatchlings

Hi,
sorry to post so many but my oher posts geta few replies and then go dry.

Anyway im looking to get a spotted python hatchling and was advised to put it in a click clack. After looking around i found a 30cm x 21cmm and 9.5cm high. Would this be ok for a spotted hatchling and when and what size should i upgrade to? Also how do i regulate the temperaturewith a heat mat on the cool and hot end of the click clack?I live in sa will that effect the temperature? If so how do i counteract this?

30cm x 21cmm and 9.5cm high will be fine for a hatchling spotted python. Get a thermometer or a dual probe on and have the probes inside the click clack 1 on the cool end and 1 on the hot end. The heat matt that I have regulates it's self. Gets to 32ºc then stops and once it drops below 32ºc it'll warm back up.

hi there, try and help you out on this one! i find for hatchies 3 litre sistema are the best ,clip up real good on the sides . then up grade to a 5 or 7 litre at about a year old . then i go to a 30 litre starmaid container after that. ventilation i melt small holes around the top of the container not to big dont want them getting out . then about 6 holes on the lid of the sistemas find it helps with condensation a bit . heating i just run heat cord under them about a inch from one end . housing i use 25 mil pvc pipe with end cape and a 25 mil bracket to stop it rolling . and a small ramekin for water . also have a prob themo on each level . hope this helps.

I will back up what chris said also do you know who you will buy from? If so contact them for information on keeping requirements. Otherwise good on you for getting on here and learning what you can before you buy. Very responsible.

I just took some pictures of one of the click clack setups that I have: It's mums snake she got a little bit carried away with the soldering irion when doing the air holes at the start LOL.

These pictures have a 10 month old Bredli in them

10L Click Clack
Air Holes going 3/4 of the way of the click clack on both sides (Soldering Iron used for air holes)
Heat Matt under 1/4 of the click clack
I have bulldog office clips, 1 on each side of the click clack just to make sure she can't push it open.

Here are the pictures:

Also, to help control the temperatures because of where you live, put the click clack in coolest part of your house, or in a room that is well ventilated.

For your click clacks check out Big W, K-Mart, local $2 shops etc. For all your reptile accessories check out www.herpshop.com.au . The Herp Shop is great value for money and is run by one of the greatest herpers this country has ever seen. Brian Barnett is one of the very few who have 'stayed true to the hobby' whilst many others have been blinded by the $$$$$.

Well this little bredli that is in that click clack is small for her age, So she'll be able to stay in there for a couple more months.

A click clack that size that mine is in, Will last your spotted for upto a year or even longer depending how often you feed it and how fast it grows, then you could upgrade to a bigger click clack, 20L the one in the pictures is only a 10L.

Brian Barnett of the Herpshop sells them. Go to http://herpshop.com.au/ then click on the button to the left that reads thermostats. Scroll down and you will see the description and the price.

Your Spotted Python can stay in a 'click clack' for quite some time....
