Hey, i have a stimsons thats probably just over 35ish cm. how old do you think this length would be, im told by people here that its around 6 months.
Now my real question, how much should i be feeding him?
I currently feed him 1 pinky a week. Should i bump it up to 2 or down to 1 in a longer period?
Thanks for your help.

well in my opinion for littel guys that are growing a meal that is about as wide as your snakes thickest part once a week is a pretty good way to go though same size meal every 10 to 14 days is also reccomended. i couldn't help with the age to size my friend as i have never kept one before and they tend to grow depending on how you keep them. e.g. temp and meals.

Hi,
Im no expert...but we also bought a stimson about that size...I was told it was a hatchling but am sure it would be considered more a juvenile....we started feeding it 2 small pinkies every week....now I have increased its intake to one larger pinkie.. and two smaller pinkies ...one day it had 4 small pinkies...some would say that instead of feeding it several smaller ones that its better to feed say one bigger fuzzie....our snake doesnt appear to have suffered any....is content and very relaxed....and is regular at the other end....it has lived with us now for 9 weeks with no problems...even having a perfect shed last week....

i feed my maccie one fuzzy per week and its around 40cm now... a stimmi wouldnt be much diffrent... remember the most common reptile problem is overfeeding it and a childrens/ stimmi can eat 125% of the thickest part of its body...

Like Armand said i'd start looking at furred rats pups. The fur and the bone are much better in the little guys growth. I've got childreni hatchys from dec that eat 10 day old fuzzed rat pup just before they open their eye stage and they are powering along. If it can eat a large pinky he'll have no troubles with one starting to fuzz up

Shouldn't a 7mth old python be eating something with fur on it by now? I don't have any knowledge of Macs or their size, but our MD's were eating Velvet Rats by 7mths old. Cheers Cheryl

Scag, you could even go up to hopper mice, and space out the time between meals a bit. |
