From time to time now of my Coastals would be fussy with his feed. You see I vary my herps diets as much as I can but it has occured to me that when I feed Guinea Pigs to him he some times takes ages to even grab it. Now I know they sometimes they are like that but the strange thing is that it has now become apparent to me that he only does it to female Guinea Pigs. If I put a male one in it is gone in 60 seconds but with females he noses it for a bit then goes away from it then back and noses it again and this may happen for hours before he finally grabs it. Even then he takes his time swallowing females whereas with males he downs them in no time at all. Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced anything like this? All I can assume is that it must have something to do with the scent of the females, Maybe to do with the pheromones they produce? Any scientists out there?

Maybe its becaus the males are more odures and therfor he identifies them as a prey item quicker.

yeah but it's still strange that it is only with female guinea pig? he doesn't do it with chickens or rats or other animals? I occasionally feed him on beef hearts as well and he snaps them up to.
