Strange Scales??

scales1.jpgMy coastal carpet has had strange scales on her back for the last three or four sheds. Any ideas?? The ones on her underside are nice and big and smooth, but on top they are shrunken and pointy.

No idea... Got a photo from the top view? Is it definitely abnormal?

In the photo from about halfway around her body the scales change and they are like that across to the other side. No she hasn't always had them like that, they used to be all smooth and even like a snake should be.

yea, that doesnt look good imo.... I have no idea what it could be.... maybe some sort of scale rot? Iv heard of mites raising scales up, tho with that many up, i think you would know if they were present.

Anyone got any ideas??? i think it could be quite serious....
Bill.

She is 5 years 9 months old and has never had any problems until the last few months. She was at the vet recently and he put her on a course of antibiotics for an infection that showed up on a blood test. We were at the vet originally because of retained eye scales (which eventually came off a couple of sheds later) scales3.jpg

He didn't specify, just said she had a high white blood cell count and that it usually indicates an infection. No other signs otherwise, still eating well, just problems shedding as far as I knew.

I would recommend double checking for mites ?

Could cause the scales to go weird...
