I dont recommend the grabbing the snake behind the head treatment everytime it bites you. Thats like hitting your dog to teach it to be a good dog. It will just go through the same routine next time. Its going to hate you.
I usually hook the snake with my finger and then allow it to find its own position. No holding, just supporting.
As Sxe says. The biting doesnt hurt.
Some snakes are just not comfortable with people.

I never even considered doing that, I thought it sounded a bit cruel but decided to let someone else bring it up.

What is the usual rate of growth for a python, I know all snakes are different but when do they usually reach the 1 metre mark?

what do you recommend I move her too? she has eaten a small fuzzy, is it true that it is hard to move them to something new as they get older?

I didn't really agree with it when he first told me, but I own a few of his snakes now, and they are all tame as. He has been keeping his whole life...same with his father, and yeah, I've seen it work. It's not like he's violent, just restrains it for a few seconds. They put 2 and 2 together and realise after a while...

Most snakes expecially juv's are not agressive as such but more scared and defending themselves. When you talk about young snakes, alot will grow out of it as they reach a certian size and feel less threatened. Giving them alot of contact with people will condition them and they will learn that we will not harm them and feel less threatened. At the same time you must rermember that if a snake is "agressive" it is scared and is stressed. So handle it frequently but make sure it has good hides in its enclosure to get away and calm down.
Other things to take into account are that the snake isnt mistaking you for food... make sure you wash your hands before handling it, and make sure there is no smells of mice or rats in the room when you handle.

There is a very good chance that your carpet will settle down naturaly without much work on your part as its gets a little older.

Hey Bule streak
It took bout 2 months of handling alomst everyday, except during shedding and eating, for a few mins. I never had her out for over 10mins as they can get a little stressed.

Regards Ether
