Hey Slackra, we've a couple of bredli from the same bloodlines as you. I highly recomend using a small snake hook (ours is home made), when removing the snake from the enclosure - they don't seem to get as great a shock from the hook touching them as they do your warm hands, always make sure your hands are clean - we've numerous snakes so I give my hands a quick squirt of F10 to avoid cross contamination and make sure my hands don't smell of rats/mice. After you're somewhere comfortable take him off the hook and just handle him for a little while - like 5 mins. When he is use to that increase the time a little and so on. The only time I am able to remove the bredli from the enclosure without getting struck at is if I put my whole hand high above the snake and slowly bring down over him untill I can pick him/her up. Having said all that, the only time our bredlis' is handled is during cleaning (5 - 10 min) and after shed(bout 5 min) to make sure they've had a clean shed.

Well all I can say is there are alot of stressed out snakes in oz. Any one who is foolish enough to get a snake out 2-3 times a day to calm them down is asking for big trouble. Stress is the main cause of death and disease in reptiles, and too much handling is the easiest way to stress your animals. Its not a wonder they go like skipping ropes,- have you checked to see if its actually still alive.?
Maybe a few people here should buy themselves a bluey, beardie, cat or dog and leave their poor snakes alone for a change. I think the difference you will find in your animals behavour will in most cases be remarkable.

Yea im sure 5 mins 2 or 3 times a day is bad.. when all your doing is holding the animal..
Its what I was told to do by the breeder I got my 1st snake from.. works great and never seemed to cause stress that I could tell... they got very used to it in a matter of days.

Why would you add another toilet roll - saw your set up in another post and have never seen some much clutter in an enclosure! Hopefully your new pet will feed ok, if not I'd be eliminating the glass all round, removing most of the stuff inside and reducing the size of the enclosure. Would also be wary of wiring inside the enclosure - that can only end in tears.
